Ruup & Form is delighted to present Fierce Energy during London Design Festival 2023. Culminating from thoughts on germination, growth and birth Fierce Energy, the exhibition showcases works by Naomi McIntosh Rachna Garodia.

‘Think of the fierce energy concentrate in an acorn. You bury it in the ground, and it explodes into an oak - George Bernard Shaw

Naomi Mcintosh creates new series Seeds, made from the timber of a single beech tree grown from a single seed, a distinctive nut called a beech mast. The new group of work explores the possibility, the power and potential of planting a seed. The sculptures celebrate cycles of growth. The repetitious beech wood forms are meticulously and carefully threaded so they become tapestries and screens of ripples and vibrations. Each arch symbolising extraordinary energy in a single seed. She chose to make this work in her greenhouse at her home in the Cairngorms in Scotland, surrounded by plants as they set seed, tomatoes, aubergines, cucumbers and pumpkins all grown from seed.

Rachna Garodia new work Bija or “containment of life.” is celebrating Seeds as a magical life force, a doorway between the life of an old plant and its gift to the new plant. A collection of woven works brought to life while observing seeds as an object of great beauty . Rachna is deeply moved and inspired by this small, silent, magical and resilient life force, drawn to the power of hope and growth that each little capsule contains within.

Seed/Bija in Hindi or “containment of life.” Seeds are a magical life force, a doorway between the life of an old plant and its gift to the new plant.

Seeds for me are a timeless ode to life’s tenacity in the most unusual combination of vulnerability and strength. A collection of woven works brought to life while observing seeds as an object of great beauty - for their form, colour and texture, paying close attention to their outer coat -  the wings, umbrellas, pods that protect them from being eaten or dried out and allow time till the conditions are right for them to burst open and grow. Deeply moved and Inspired by this small, silent, magical and resilient life force. Drawn to the power of hope and growth that each little capsule contains within itself.
