Bodily Inbetweeness
Solo Exhibition by Woo Jin Joo
Preview: Thursday, 10 September, 18:30 - 20:30 - RSVP Essential
Exhibition Dates: 11 September - 13 November
In Bodily Inbetweeness, Woo Jin Joo explores the process of ‘myth-making’. Based on folklore, shamanism and embodied knowledges, the exhibition explores the states of emergence and transformation through new and selected works spanning freehand machine embroidery, textiles, ceramics, sculpture and drawing.
The gallery will be transformed into a living environment, where forms appear in process rather than completion, and bodies, creatures and material gestures hover between recognition and ambiguity. Centred around the idea of emergence and transformation, these shifting forms and perspectives give rise to what Woo Jin describes as ‘innate worlds’, whereby internal, co-existing realities are shaped through lived experiences, rather than separated from it.
