In Company of The Unexpected

11 September - 18 October 2025

Inspired by the much-loved Judith Kerr's children's book A Tiger Who Came to Tea, this exhibition explores themes of domestic disruption, wonder, and the intersection of the everyday with the fantastical. Through contemporary artworks, the exhibition examines how moments of unexpected intrusion - whether real, imaged, or metaphorical - reshapes our understanding of kindness, imagination, acceptance, wonder, and especially finding awe, humour and joy in the everyday.

This exhibition invites viewers to reconsider encounters - whether delightful, disruptive, or unexpected. It offers a space where reality and imagination intertwine, prompting reflection on how we welcome the unknown, navigate power, and explore storytelling's influence on wonder and fear. In an unpredictable world, A Tiger Who Came to Tea serves as both a celebration and an enquiry into what it means to coexist with the unexpected.
