Combining personal experiences with sewn alternative materials, this abstract-landscape painting processes ideas of place, memory, connection and vulnerability. The composition was developed from sketches made following a walk written about in Nan Shepherd’s book The Living Mountain, which was the first hike I managed after a car accident. Slowing down physically enabled me to encounter the nuances of the landscape and understand the exposed state of the land and our climate as well as sewing as a method of repairing.
