Exploring a sense of lurking and hiding, something raw and elemental seems to be hidden from our vision under the softness of the textiles. What is it that lies behind the enclosed softness? We can only guess through the intrusive forms and edges that reveal themselves. Provoking our curiosity and wonder, the piece explores how our fear and wonder are provoked through the unknown and unexpected. First study piece as part of the series Mollusks: A Slow, Continuous Formation, exploring the dialectics of fear and wonder, hidden and visible, soft and hard through textural explorations.
‘The shell is a witch’s cauldron in which bestiality is brewing.’
