Nehal Aamir is a Manchester-based ceramic artist who blends traditional craftsmanship with contemporary art. She creates narrative-driven pieces that draw from history and culture, while highlighting the beauty of everyday materials.
Aamir's work often explores themes of labour, community, and craftsmanship, paying tribute to the people and processes involved in the production.
Recently, Aamir has been collaborating with local artisans and traditional manufacturers with her current project at Darwen Terracotta involving creating a large-scale tile mural for the Blackburn Museum, celebrating the factory's ceramic heritage and its workers' lives.
Her creative process combines figurative illustration with symbolic elements from factory tools and objects, resulting in visually engaging and meaningful reflecting on the human stories living within the craft.
Nehal Aamir, born in 1997 in Gujranwala, Pakistan, is currently based in Greater Manchester, UK for both living and work. She earned her Foundation Degree in Art and Design from the Manchester College, University of Arts, London, UK from 2014-2016, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Design from Central Saint Martins, University of Arts, London, UK from 2016-2019.
