Eddie Knevett British
Eddie Knevett is a ceramicist who investigates and embraces the elements of chance in his work where nature plays a significant role in his final pieces of art. Understanding the nature of ceramics and its ability to not be in control, his style of work features torn paper, creating jagged-edge shapes with unexpected proportions, all crafted from coloured matte clay possessing a lively energy interacting with one another, influencing the overall design of his vessels.
Knevett takes a different approach by layering colours and textures through multiple firings, creating bold marks and organic forms. The artist enjoys the process of spontaneity, drawing inspiration from early art and cultures offering a fresh and an ever-evolving perspective.
Born in 1964, in Oxford, UK, Eddie Knevett completed his Bachelor’s in Fashion in 1987. He now lives and works in St. Leonard’s on Sea, and is currently a lecturer at the London college of Fashion.
