Ekta Bagri Indian, b. 1999
Ekta received a Master’s degree in Ceramics & Glass from the Royal College of Art and a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art & History of Art from Goldsmiths University of London. Her Indian heritage plays a very important role in her art. Each work has a Hindi title, reinforcing the cultural notion of a shared, intrinsic bond with nature.
Inspired by the profound words of Maria Puig De La Bellacasa, Bagri’s artistic practice is a dedication to 'sustaining, rejuvenating, and mending the world,' ensuring it remains a nurturing space for all.
Her practice investigates the interplay of elements and their capacity to evoke memories of nature. Each piece is a celebration of natural phenomena, embracing the unique nature of an ash glaze, and revealing the intrinsic character of its clay body, their forms taking shapes inspired by fire and earth.
Bagri’s works resonate on a personal and communal level, inviting viewers to reflect on their relationship with the natural world, and the endless cycle of creation and rejuvenation that defines our existence.
