Ambre Cardinal French

Ambre Cardinal is an artist and designer working at the intersection of sculpture, jewellery and installation. Through hand-shaping metals, Cardinal explores the relationship between body, object, and space, turning metals into abstract forms referred to as body sculptures and space jewels. Her practice is grounded in a fascination with scale and how forms shift in meaning when moved from body to environment.

Rooted in a meditative-making process, Ambre’s work incorporates techniques from both jewellery and dressmaking, allowing each piece to emerge from observation of the natural form. The resulting sculptures are balanced with intimacy and expansiveness.

With honours from the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg and an MA from the Royal College of Art, London, her practice is enriched by residencies and international collaborations, including NAFAS with Mécènes du Sud and Institut Français. Across sculpture, film and wearable forms, Ambre creates an ergonomic poetics - shaping metal into structures that invite the body and space to breathe together.
