Overview

Rebecca Scott is a painter based in London and Cumbria, known for her representational works that delve into themes of female desire and subjectivity. Currently residing and working between London and Cumbria, Scott is a co-founder of Cross Lane Projects, an independent art space located in Kendal.

 

A graduate of Chelsea School of Art and Goldsmiths, London, Scott’s “Scribble Paintings” juxtapose spontaneous marks with idealised imagery, questioning societal expectations and disrupting narratives.

Biography

Rebecca Scott, a distinguished artist with a comprehensive artistic career completed her BA in Painting at Chelsea School of Art in 1983 and her MA in Fine Art at Goldsmith's College, University of London in 1987.

 

Her artistic journey is marked by an impressive array of solo exhibitions, including recent shows at Cross Lane Projects in London and Kendal, the Saatchi Gallery, and the Standpoint Gallery. Notable exhibitions include "The Line and the Scribble" (2024), "Small Boats & Family Matters" (2024), and "Dirty Pictures" (2019).

 

Scott has been extensively involved in group exhibitions, often curating shows herself, such as "Strange Gaze" at Cross Lane Projects (2024) and "Landscape of the Gods" (2023). Her work has been featured in international venues across Europe, including exhibitions in Spain, France, Sweden, and Germany.
