Marlou Breuls b. 1991

Marlou Breauls, working under the creative practice House of Rubber, investigates the intersections between the human body, objects and materials. Aiming to dissolve traditional boundaries by moving fluidly between sculpture, fashion and object-making, Breuls creates tactile, immersive forms that invite both play and contemplation.

Each piece explores ideas of human plasticity, the merging of body and material, to encourage physical and sensory engagement. This is done through the transformation of everyday materials, such as rubber, textiles, clay and porcelain, to challenge expectations and interrogate ideas of function and fragility. Each of Marlou’s pieces offer fresh perspectives on the relationship between body, object and space through reimagining how objects can carry emotion and narrative.

Marlou holds a BA in Fashion Design from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute, as well as having completed a sculpture course at Central Saint Martins, Fashion Design at ROC College and Fashion Tailor from Summa College.
