ABOUT / FIND US: Collaborate. Collect . Commission

Ruup & Form is a curatorially driven contemporary gallery in London, championing material-led practices that disrupt and expand the spaces between art, craft and design. Founded in 2019 by curator and director Varuna Kollanethu, the gallery was born from a conviction that meticulously made objects can be engines of change – binding communities, carrying stories across geographies, and opening more sustainable, imaginative futures.

In 2025, Ruup & Form operates as a platform for breakthrough practices and ground‑breaking ideas in material and form. Our programme foregrounds collectible craft and design – unique and limited-edition works with a powerful narrative – alongside contemporary artworks that interrogate how we live with objects in domestic, architectural and public contexts. From textiles, ceramics and glass to wood, metal, paper and hybrid media, our focus is on the intelligence of making: the gestures, technologies and material experiments encoded within each piece.

We work with a growing international community of more than forty artists and makers, representing a core group in depth over time. Ruup & Form has become recognised for the strength of its curatorial vision and for the depth of support it offers its artists, creating the conditions for risk‑taking, experimentation and genuinely career‑shaping moments. Each exhibition is research-led and precisely staged, bringing divergent voices into conversation while maintaining a clear, rigorous curatorial framework.

Operating both as cultural platform and strategic partner, we collaborate with private collectors, designers, institutions and corporate organisations on acquisitions, commissions and site-specific projects. We align every collaboration with architectural context, brand vision and stakeholder priorities, ensuring that each work is placed with intent and future-facing relevance.

Championing underrepresented and cross-cultural perspectives is fundamental to our mission. Many of the practices we support engage with questions of migration, ecology, repair, craft heritage and the politics of everyday objects. We understand craft and design not as peripheral or purely decorative, but as critical infrastructures of care, knowledge and economic resilience.

Looking forward, Ruup & Form is committed to operating as a catalytic space for the next wave of boundary‑pushing practice, a place where artists test the limits of material and concept, where collectors encounter work that reframes what contemporary art and craft can be, and where art, craft and design converge to articulate new, progressive possibilities for how we live now and into the future.
